I've had a near life-long interest in railroading and its environment, except for a gap in my teenage years. A desire to pick up a "real" (DSLR) camera sparked in the last year or two of my high school career instigated an interest in learning photography. It would be over a year post-graduation before I again picked up my interest in railroading however. It has been somewhat of a tradition for me to watch The Polar Express around Christmas time and for whatever reason, this one time in particular, re-ignited an interest in trains. Specifically, steam locomotives and classic signals -- with a special fondness for C&O US&S R-2s. I continue to experiment; trying new angles and techniques to capture something distinctive. At some point, I stumbled upon O. Winston Link's Norfolk & Western project and thus started in interest in night time flash photography. It is my latest progression in photography and it has been a learning curve manipulating light instead of manipulating myself to find light.
