About Me

 

I got my first camera, a red Canon Powershot A480 in July 2010, and started shooting, googling, youtubing, reading, drinking, and eating photography. I managed to get a reasonable understanding of the concepts, mainly shooting flowers (I have about 10,000 of them), but my practical experience with any DSLR was as good as null and void, until I borrowed my brother's Canon EOS 30D and had an unexpected photo shoot with a pretty model at the beach.

 

A week later came my first (and hopefully last) wedding shoot! I managed to get my hands on the Canon EOS 30D again (this time with a 430 ex Mk2 Speedlight in the bag) and I figured how to set the ISO and white balance, because during my previous shoot at the beach, I foolishly left the ISO setting at 400 all the time.

 

After almost a year of shooting weeds in the back-yard, I bought my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel T2i (550D) in Jun 2011, and immediately switched to my passion for people: portraits and the nifty 50!

 

I have a handful of close friends that are both amused and supportive of my enthusiasm for photography, and I think they enjoy the shots I take of their kids. I have a wonderful rapport with them and they are always patient and willing to be photographed. Children are naturally spontaneous and 100% themselves, therefore their photos are beautifully candid.

 

My first Explore! came unexpectedly, and exactly eight months later on Feb 9, 2012 with a portrait of Lizri!

 

I'm now at a stage where I believe I can improve my work by improving my Photoshop skills. There is no magic recipe, and every photo has to be processed according to its own needs. Being an IT guy, I think a thorough understanding of the processes at a bit level is key to achieving a mastery of the art! Edit Nov. 2013. No! Visual Art 101 is more important!

I have a burning desire to produce something beautiful and I will only favor beautiful images!

 

If you look at my favorites you will see that it's mostly pretty girls. That's because I like pretty girls. When I see an image for the first time and it does not have an emotional impact I probably will not favor it even if it has lots of artistic merit. I will really try to reciprocate though and give you a comment.

 

I like beauty! I wish people will stand in front of something better. Subject matter that is calculated to please vulgar or geriatric tastes is not for me. It needs to be sweet, pretty, and cute! Now what's wrong with that?
