Hola Consuelo..... Atelier Anaut, News from the studio 2008-2009 2008 has been a very active year yet again for the Atelier Anaut, and included 5 solo exhibitions. The year started off with an exhibition in January at SEVEN, 7 Bedford Row, London, in collaboration with the Zimmer Stewart Gallery. This is a wonderful venue, located a beautiful Georgian House, which behind has a large exhibition space and conference area, where Felix was able to exhibit large scale works, hence was able to combine his eclectic tendencies, showing his exaggerated monochrome figurative works on paper, alongside his lyrical abstractions, as well as some bronzes, the exhibition was a great success. Following this in May he had another large exhibition in a public space in Ireland. For the second time he had the privilege to show at the Armagh Market Place Gallery, a fabulous contemporary space, in Ireland’s ancient capitol...again very well attended, and notably visited by the local schools, with whom Felix was able to have interaction/ discussion periods. Back in France in May he had an exhibition at FOUR, in Montcuq (Lot), the home of Brian Griggs & Phillipe Leloup, a fabulous contemporary interior in a medieval / renaissance building, incorporating exhibiting spaces for art.... Come the summer Felix had 2 important exhibitions, the first in France opening in July at the Tanneries Gallery in Nerac (Lot et Garonne), again this was Felix’s second time to exhibit in this expansive public space, spread over two floors alongside the river Baise. Again, due to the space Felix was able to show both directions of his artwork, under the theme of eclecticism. Alongside exhibited the art ceramicist Liz Guy, with whom Felix has collaborated before. Included in the show were some new ceramics executed by Liz and decorated by Felix. In August he had the privilege to participate in the renowned Arundel Summer Arts Festival, W. Sussex in England, with a show at the Zimmer Stewart Gallery. It is a well established event attracting huge numbers of people, as the festival also includes, theatre, opera, music, etc.... Other events during the year included participation in the “Festiv’Ete” art’s festival in Mas d’Agenais and also at a group show at the Mont de Marsan Contemporary Arts Centre, both in France. Also participation in “De Arte” contemporary Art Fair in Madrid with the Aroya Gallery, and recently a new collaboration with “Changing Art” in Antwerp. During the summer Felix spent time in the Pyrenees (invited by an art collector, as a sort of residency) where he produced a series of books and large abstracts, inspired by the surrounding strong and dramatic colours of the landscape. These works will be exhibited later in 2009, and he hopes to repeat the experience next year. Finally this year T.V. Aragon (Spain) made a visit to the studio to record “A Day in the Life of....”, filming at the Agen Museum (Goya painting’s), Chateau Poudenas, and naturally in the studio. This is due to be broadcast in early 2009. 2009 likewise is starting off with many projects, beginning with work in an exhibition, “Genius Loci”, to celebrate a 100 years of urban development of the City of Zaragoza, invited by the College of Architects, and alongside some of Spain’s leading artists. Felix has to produce work on top of a plan of the city, giving his vision of the cities urban development......a nice project, as he was born in Zaragoza, and has seen its development over the years. In February Felix returns to ARTTANK in Belfast for an exhibition titled “Harmonies”, which will be a collection of new works, and some of his recent ceramics. Later in the year there will be exciting new projects, in new venues and new cities. One will be a solo at “Changing Art” in Antwerp (Belgium), a charming gallery in the centre of the old city. Also another solo exhibition with the Galeria Aroya in their new space in Zaragoza in May. Then in June he has been invited to exhibit in a new gallery in Berlin, alongside the North American sculptor, John Northington, Bulgarian artist, Milena Stamboliyska, and German performance artist, Franz Gratwohl. In the autumn he has been invited to show in Sofia (Bulgaria) in an international art exhibition titled “On a Roll”, the title draws attention to the artist as an active participant in contemporary culture, where everything is in constant flux and rapidly changing. The exhibition will tour afterwards. Felix has also started a new collaboration with the Spanish bank, CAJALON, for exhibitions and projects in the near future. Later in the year a new book will be published on the life and work of Felix. This exciting project is being written by the European art collector, Michael Simonow, whose extensive and important collection is on permanent loan to the Abbaye Flaran, in the Gers, S.W. France, and will add to a number of books and catalogues written by Mr Simonow. The book will cover Felix’s personal life and include a history of his work up to the present day..... Only remains to say, thank you for all your support over the past year. HAPPY NEW YEAR & HEALTHLY & ARTISTIC 2009 H.
