With a firm conviction that the Word of God gives practical solutions to every challenge we might ever encounter, Pastor Mark Shook and his wife Laura work with members every week in a broad range of activities, all the while sharing fellowship and praise. The members of Community of Faith share a wide scope of activities and experience far beyond the weekend services, and support service projects in Cypress and neighboring communities. In addition, the membership maintains a sister campus in Cancun, Mexico, and supports missions in Uganda and Burundi.
Many of the members of Cypress’ Community of Faith join one or more of the various activity-focused groups organized to provide fellowship opportunities with like-minded people. For instance, the men’s group may go on a fishing trip or a motorcycle ride, while the activities of the young singles group are oriented more toward social events and service. There are groups for women, for teens, for younger students, and another made up of young professionals and those of college age. Community of Faith provides childcare at most community group gatherings and worship celebrations, which permits parents of young children to attend without worry.
Consistent with Jesus’ teachings, Community of Faith is strongly service-oriented. Serve Saturday is a heavily attended monthly project; members visit various communities in the Cypress area and carry out tasks such as giving free oil changes, delivering food to needy families, and distributing Christmas gifts to children.
