The DC area's reuse center for home improvement & architectural salvage!

The name Community Forklift refers to our mission: to lift up local communities by reducing waste and energy use; creating local green jobs; and making home repair more affordable. We aim to turn our region's waste stream into a resource stream!

If you're renovating, you can save on dumpster costs and earn tax deductions by donating reusable appliances, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, tools, hardware, lumber, bricks, and other modern & vintage building materials. We offer a free pickup service all over the metro region.

Then go shopping: the Forklift warehouse is located five minutes outside DC in the Hyattsville area, and you can pick up building materials at 40% to 90% below retail (there's even a free section that is popular with artists). You can also find a wide range of antiques and architectural salvage, as well as raw-edged lumber, reclaimed flooring, and a new line of recycled paint.

Proceeds go back into making reuse happen and creating green jobs. We also distribute free materials to neighbors in need and local nonprofits; and provide workshops and public education about green living, low-cost repairs, and local reuse options.
