Sam DeLong’s Biography

 

Sam DeLong, of Lexington, Ky., is a retired educator, avid photographer and world traveler. His fun and informative enrichment lectures cover a wide range of uses for Apple and Android tablets, and photography tips. Sam's main goal is for participants to feel comfortable using their devices and to inspire creativity in their photos. Most importantly, he wants everyone to have fun on their vacation.

 

Sam earned his master’s degree and rank one from Eastern Kentucky University. During his 31 years as a Graphic Arts teacher, Sam made learning challenging and fun by using a hands-on approach in all subjects he taught, which includes digital photography, Adobe Photoshop, yearbook advisor, computer applications and B&W darkroom photography. Before retiring, he taught nine digital photography courses at Eastern Kentucky University.

 

Sam was born and raised in Germany; his parents were American missionaries. He attended German schools and traveled throughout Europe. He is fluent in German and still has a sister living near Stuttgart, Germany.

Sam has bee married to his wife Carol for 39 years. They have two children and one grandchild.

 

Whenever possible, Sam and his wife, Carol, enjoy traveling all over the world. They recently returned from Oceania’s first wonderful world cruise on Insignia. Sam loves being a cruise ship enrichment speaker, and he will showcase his skills, talents, work experience and education to give passengers an extra special cruise experience.
