In September 2002 an idea transpired between two skateboarders, one an emerging photographer, the other with a background in art and design, both fresh to the city of Vancouver. They were eager to grow their abilities in these exciting surroundings - Canada's Mecca for skateboarding. Fuelled by the overwhelming acceptance of the idea of producing a new magazine exploring skateboard culture, and by the pleasure they found in creating mock magazine layouts that placed their friends in the spotlight, Sandro Grison’s (co-founder/owner/creative director) pastime was quickly transformed into a viable marketing tool for the like-minded brands that saw potential and need for such a magazine. In May of 2003 the premiere issue was launched during the National Skateboard Championships (Slam City Jam) in Vancouver BC.
