My very first camera was a Kodak 126 Instamatic complete with "flash cubes" that I won in a contest at our neighborhood Weingartens grocery store around the age of 8. Although I can't remember what the contest entailed, I do remember having many more expensive prizes to choose from (like a brand new bike) ~ but I was adamant on my choice of the camera. This is when my love of photography began & I have been hooked ever since. (NOTE: I have NOT been taking pictures since I was 8 years old! In fact, there were a few rolls back in the film day with 2 years of Christmas pics on them~LOL! Plus, when you're 8 or even a teenager, film & processing was a little pricey...)

 

I am currently a project manager in the telecommunications industry and have had the opportunity to travel to some very cool places! I am in the process of uploading lots of photos from scans taken with my old SLR, various point & shoots, as well as shots from my new Canon XSi 450D, which is presenting somewhat of a learning curve since this is my first "real" digital camera. I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I enjoy taking them ~ please feel free to comment and critique. I am certainly no professional (as you will see from my stream), but photography has always been one of my passions. I joined flickr primarily to share pictures with my family, since we live so far apart (moved from Monticello, AR to Houston, TX in 1990). There is a little of everything on my stream ~ kind of an eclectic hodgepodge of places I've been, flowers, my animals, experiments with textures & even an occasional attempt at HDR, which I only like to a certain extent... I have learned TONS from viewing all the awesome photos on flickr and just hope this reflects as my stream progresses day by day.

 

Update 5/28/09: Well, I'm off to a slow start on my scans, but still planning to do that... 8~) However, I just had to share that I upgraded my kit lenses with two awesome lenses, so photos from this point will be with either of the following (unless I find the need to break out the kit telephoto on occasion):

 

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

I am so loving these new lenses!

 

Added a B+W 77mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer for the 17-55mm in late June '09 ~ it's awesome! Also got lens hoods for each lens & a step up ring for the 50mm so I only have to buy one set of filters.
