Maria is a kind person who I am happy to call my friend. She has definitely achieved her goal of making people smile--her work has certainly touched me. The first thing that struck me about her pictures (besides all of the technical beauty) was the emotion she captures. Looking at her portraits of children, you can almost hear their laughter...or cries. As Maria has become more active on Flickr it's been easy to see that she is an artist.
