Coco O’Connor discovered her passion for music at the age of 10 years old when she began writing her own songs, lyrics, poems and prose. But it wasn’t until a defining moment at the age of 17, that Coco discovered she was going to turn her passion for music into a profession. After being given the opportunity to chill with ZZ Top in their tour bus on Senior Prom Night, it was then and there that she knew “this is what I wanna do with my life!”

A multi-instrumentalist since the age of five, Coco plays the cello, drums, and acoustic & electric guitar. But what many love the most is her distinctive, vulnerable yet commanding vocals, which can be heard internationally by DJ’s around the world.

Coco O’Connor’s songs have been added to DJ sets and remixed by cutting edge electronic artists/DJ’s such as Andy Hunter (Nettwerk) and Doug Ross (Rubiks Records) from the UK, as well as stateside by Noah Argeanas (MSM Recordings). Her song “Higher Power” was selected for the CD Compilation, Hope: Love is the Answer, produced by Grammy Award winning Producer Steve Zuckerman.

Her newest album Lucere™ with DeepLife Records in the UK entertains with electronica beats coupled with new ambient, soulful sounds including masterful remix tracks by Nettwerk Recording artist, Andy Hunter (Matrix and Expelled Soundtracks) and Doug Ross (Rubiks Records, MTV, NBC,BBC). The single “Hard Time to Shine” was selected for Denmark’s RADIO HOLSTEBRO. It was one of four songs selected to be played off the radio-promo NCM disc, and the only self-produced/Indie release while the other artists/songs selected were major label artists. “Hard Time to Shine” was also selected for Sonic Vogue Records’ (UK), Sound of Style compilation disc.

Her 2008 release, 7th Wonder is seeing many successes. “DUB” was awarded “Best Electronica” at the New Mexico Music Awards ‘08 and many instrumentals are in various music libraries under “non-exclusive” agreements for film/TV placements. Her instrumental compositions can be found in theDRIVETV television show which airs in over 300,000 homes worldwide.

In 2006 Coco released her first self-produced/independent CD, TRANSPARENT which received enormous support from NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance). After suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from a carjacking in 2001, Coco welcomed the opportunity to turn injustice into justice through music by donating half the proceeds from the sales of the album to NOVA to help raise awareness for victims of crime. The same album went on to feature “Something Beautiful” in episode 521 of The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and “D’Chase” was awarded “Honorable Mention” in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition (2006).

Known for her perseverance and taking unrelenting bold action, Coco is expanding her musical talents beyond creative expression with a mission to help independent artists, just like her, be self-sufficient by building equity in themselves as a band/brand. Her ultimate goal is to show them a better way by putting them in control of their “creative destiny” and urging artists that when they’re in a position of power, they have endless choices.

Coco is constantly writing, recording and collaborating with DJs/Producers, while growing her marketing division to guide artists who are ready to grow and market their music as aggressively and effectively as she does.

When she is not touring and raising awareness for crime victims, she and her musician husband Taylor divide their time between their L.A. pad and their Santa Fe, New Mexico home which has a studio that contains aTrident80B console, Neves, a 1960’s C12 mic (modified for the female voice by Fred Cameron), as well as Logic Ableton LIVE, and other vintage gear.
