We are preparing the candidacy of Cluj for the title of European Capital of Culture 2021. Those of us who are in love with this wonderful city already consider it worthy for both the title of Transylvania’s Capital or the Movie Capital, but its entry in this European competition is a unique opportunity to confirm and build this status, in accordance with the terms of the European Union.

Our candidacy for the European Capital of Culture title is first of all an opportunity to place Cluj as a cultural center on the map of Europe. The city will develop as a true model for social influence and cultural change, a good example of diversity, cultural and sustainable economic development, all tailored to the basic European values. We are now getting ready to face this challenge.

The project with which Cluj will run for the title of European Capital of Culture is designed by the “Cluj-Napoca - European Capital of Culture" Association, which represents the city’s cultural operators and cultural institutions, members of civil society, academic sector and business, along with the representatives of local government and ordinary citizens.
