The Great Himalaya Trail (GHT), a new long distance walking trail along the length of the Himalayas in Nepal, has a potential of providing a significant boost to Nepal’s tourism industry and associated support sectors. It will help channeling tourists and pro-poor tourism investment to less visited and under-developed districts, and thereby spreading tourism benefits more widely and inclusively among impoverished mountain communities.

The Great Himalaya Trail is made up of a network of existing trails from Kanchenjunga in the East to Humla/Darchula in the West. It traverses some of the most rugged and breathtaking mountain landscapes on earth and passes beneath eight of the world’s highest peaks.
