From our humble beginnings in 1983, Clemson’s IE program has evolved into a well-respected, highly productive department that enjoys a strong national and international reputation. Our faculty are renowned experts in supply chain optimization and logistics; human factors and ergonomics; and educational learning systems. The IE program offers accredited programs leading to Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), degrees in industrial engineering. Because of the broad nature of our discipline our graduates work in a multitude of industries and fields such as automotive, electronics, chemicals, information technology, healthcare, aviation, finance, and consulting. A defining attribute of our program is the ability of our faculty to develop student strengths in basic industrial engineering knowledge; the use of industrial engineering tools; problem solving; computer skills; communication; and teamwork—these are all attributes that help to prepare them for careers in industrial engineering.
