I have a broken lens, that's how.

See, I dropped my 400mm f/2.8 IS lens on the floor; ever since, if I add one or even two extenders to it, the stop remains at f/2.8. So, with 2 extenders, a 1.4X and a 2X, the lens, now 1120mm lens, should be at f/11 but, it's still at f/2.8.

Works wonders for me! Canon have tried to buy the lens from me but, no go!
