About Clarisel:

INDEPENDENT journalist and social entrepreneur Clarisel Gonzalez documents images of everyday life and shares them with a global audience online and offline. She aims to use photography to empower, inform, and build community via media. She carries her camera or cell phone every day and shoots regularly. She takes photos as an extension of what her eyes and mind see. She enjoys landscapes, urban, street photography, black and white, nature, photojournalism, architecture, and animal portraits...She enjoys telling stories and helping to change perceptions.

Documenting everyday life through photography makes her see familiar things that she may have taken for granted.

In 2002, she began shooting photos in Puerto Rico, where she used to live and work. She loved its architecture, palm trees, beaches, and people. And she fell in love with the art of photography. Puerto Rico inspired her to share her photography with the world. She takes photos for her online media businesses, Puerto Rico Sun Communications (PRSUN) and Clarisel Media.

She returned home to her native New York City in 2005 and has been taking photos ever since. She has been curating and participating in photo exhibits in New York since 2005. She is a founding member of the independent Bronx Photographers Collaborative, an eclectic network of photographers.

She currently lives in the South Bronx.
