Hi, my name is Chris an amateur photographer that has been actively pursuing my hobby and passion for approximately 3 years.

My love for photography started out with very simple beginnings, with my first digital camera being that located on my new mobile phone at the time, a Sony Ericsson K750i. Although basic it gave me a chance to experiment, though I quickly wanted something more. I soon purchased a standard digital camera, namely a Canon A710 IS. Featuring full manual controls, I could learn the more advanced aspects of photography and the camera proved very useful in many situations. It accompanied me on my trip to Tokyo in May 2007 and was invaluable in capturing the spirit of the trip. Although this camera had served me well, I felt it was still limiting myself in what I could shoot. I therefore invested in a digital SLR in April 2008, continuing the Canon branding with the 400D model.

SLR cameras open up even more possibilities for photo opportunities due to the nature of being able to attach different lenses and the unsurpassed low light capability. SLR's are not for the faint hearted though as they are ever expandable and this can prove to be a drain on your finances. Looking to the future, I hope to invest in a 10-20mm wide angle lens.

The subjects that I shoot are mostly nature and landscape as this is what I generally enjoy. In the near future I am looking to develop into new areas, such as portrait and people. I haven't found this easy though, but life is always a challenge.
