I am a fine art photographic artist living and based in Kona Hawaii. I own Lava Light galleries on Alii drive in Kona Hawaii with my best friend and photography partner Nick Selway. We specialize in fine art photos of the Kilauea volcano and and the Hawaiian islands. We live our lives on the edge photographing in some of the most dangerous yet dynamic landscapes on earth. We travel all over the world in search of light at least 4 times a year. I love to meet other artist and see the world from a different perspective. The photographic industry is a competitive market but i feel we all have a lot to learn from each other; you are never competing with another photographer just with another image. Always be inspired by images better than your own, never stop learning and put your best into each of your own works of art and you will go far in photography. Chances are if you love an image that you have taken so will others. On that note I am a quasi purest when it comes to photography. I started with film and still shoot a little large format . The digital that I do shoot I keep the post processing to a minimum, I process raw files in Dxo by just choosing a film style Ie: Velvia, Kodacrome 64 or Ectacrome and then crop and dust spot if needed. Everything else is done in camera with grads, no hdr imagery. This is just my choice as an artist. Each artist needs to choose there own path to their own perfect image. Photoshop is an art in its own and many artist have made amazing works of art with it. It is just not my art.
