Just someone who walks around with a camera.
As you will note at present I am taking photos of natural items, landscapes, few shots in town and less with people in. I may call myself a nature photographer, but actually I think I am just too shy to take photos of people. That's simply because I work as a biologist and using my camera to pick up images for my reports, I can take a lot of shots.
Many photost, I may say most of them, are taken in my homeland Friûl and neighbouring countries, but I have begun taking photos regularly even in Sardigna, as long as I married a girl from that beautiful island.
I am not as good as a real photographer, I know, but after 36 years of shooting I am learning something. I think photography can tell stories and at the same time it is an art, as you express your feelings even if you don't want to. The choice of a set, subject, light and composition tells something about the place you visited, but also about yourself.
I begun with a point and shot analogic in 1980 (I was 8), then passed through an old full mechanic analogic and upgraded later to my first real camera, the old and loved Olympus OM2. The first digital camera came in early 2000, it was an Olympus Camedia C-120. After a couple of years the C-5000 Zoom came. In 2008 I bought an Olympus SP560UZ with an underwater housing that allowed me to take some pictures of underwater life in the Red Sea. In the end I tuned back to SLR for faunistic photography: now I own a Nikon D300. The SP560UZ was flooded a couple of years ago, sto now I am taking underwater photos with a Nikon AW120 camera.
