Bio

Massimo Paganini was born in 1965 in Bologna, where he currently lives and works.

He attends the High School for Arts and later the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown, where he graduates in painting in 1988.

He is a performer with the "Cavalla Cavalla" group during the festival of experimental arts “Ave Festival” in Arneim (Holland) and "Nuova Officina Bolognese” at the Modern Arts Gallery in Bologna in 1991

The following year, alongside with the artistic production that will result in a personal exhibition in Faenza at the inaugural opening of the "Circolo degli Artisti" (The Club of the Artists), he joins the group AGO (Alcuni Giovani Occidentali) where he works on image and communication, to become then the Art Director.

In 1993 he is in Karachi (Pakistan) by the Zigurat Gallery, where with a site specific production he creates the "Bologna Karachi – Action 1" exhibition which will have its sequel in Marseille (France) eight months later with "Pelle d’una Bestia - Action 2 "at the Tour de Vieux Port (Tower of the Old Port).

From 1995 to 2000 he is a member of the groups of experimental arts and graphics “CZCPZ” and "Climax".

He continues his work with Bologna 2000 "Città Europea della Cultura” (European City of Culture) as the editor of the first edition of the "Ukulele Oro Subito" exhibition, brought to Barcelona to the "Primavera del Disseny in 2001.

In 2004, he founds together with Marcello Briguglio the creative workshop "Studio Massimo Paganini."

In the same year he becomes a father.

In the following three years he improves his ability to produce charcoal for drawing from willow charcoal, and creates an expositive project that contemplates only the technique of spindle-tree charcoal: Divina Carne (Galleria l’Ariete Arte Contemporanea, Bologna 2008).

Nowadays, after watching guests at a wedding party (while everybody gives the best and the worst of himself), and bathers on a beach on 15th of August, he works at "grosse pietre" (large stones) to make eternal (fossil), the unusual behaviour of a common position.
