Cinema City festival is based on the concept of a city festival, which was promoted at Film Festival of Serbia in 2007 which was the foundation of its formation. By introducing significant programme changes, Exit Association took over the organisation of the festival.

During 2008 and 2009, Cinema City has developed into an international film festival which represents a significant cultural and film event in Serbia and in the region with its extent, film programme and distinguished guest from around the world.

Since 2010, Cinema City is independently organised by Citizens’ Association „Cinema City”. The organising structure, as well as the team of associates and friends who work on developing and organising the festival throughout the whole year, have been presented through the management board and the council of the festival.
