CIHEAM Bari is a Centre for post-graduate training, applied scientific research and design of in locopartnership actions within the framework of international research and cooperation programmes. it works in four thematic areas: “Land and water resources management”, “Integrated pest management of Mediterranean fruit tree crops”, “Mediterranean organic farming” and “Sustainable agriculture and rural development”.

CIHEAM BARI is the Italian Headquarters of CIHEAM, the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, a Mediterranean intergovernmental organisation founded in 1962 and devoted to the sustainable development of agriculture and fisheries, food and nutrition security and rural and coastal areas. The CIHEAM collaborates with several international and regional organisations, is composed of 13 member States (Albania, Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey) and operates through its 4 Institutes based in Bari (Italy), Chania (Greece), Montpellier (France) and Zaragoza (Spain). The General Secretariat is based in Paris.
