I got my own camera, and I started taking my own pictures for the first time in 1996, when I went overseas for the first time. And have basically been addicted to photography ever since.
My attitude towards taking pictures is 'take enough shots, some of them will come out OK'. The first overseas trip was 1100 pictures in 2 months. Kept with film until April 2006, when I went digital with a vengeance.
Have a Nikon S3 compact, rather than anything SLR type flashy, but it seems to take good enough pics.
