I've been a keen railway enthusiast apparently since the age of two when I began to frequent West Bromwich station and travel to and from Birmingham Snow Hill, with my dad, on the ex-GWR railcars. Having taken up serious railway photography over 40 years ago, largely encouraged through my ongoing membership of the RCTS and the Merseyside Railway Society, on moving to Devon I joined Newton Abbot Photographic Club in an attempt to expand my subject range. Membership of all three has taught me much and I have made some good friends.
Although I now photograph a wider range of subjects, I still keep coming back to transport - railways in particular. I take photographs for my own enjoyment and in the hope that others will like some of them too - please note that all photographs on this site are my own work (apart from the photo of me by my wife) and are scanned slides or digital shots taken with my Canon A85 compact, my Samsung GX10 SLR, post December 2010 with my Pentax K5 SLR and since January 2017 with my Pentax K3. My current "walkabout" lens is a Pentax 18-135mm supplemented by a Sigma 17-70mm, a Sigma 70-300mm and a Pentax 50mm standard lens. In 2019 I added a Ricoh GRII compact to my equipment. It gives great results and fits in my pocket!
