Lately I've been thinking about how my methods have evolved and where they've taken my photography, limiting my creative flexibility, but increasing the overall quality of the images I am producing.

No one wants to see you cry.

My close friend, Sid, says that I approach photography "like an engineer". While that statement is not accurately encompassing of my style, it certainly speaks to an aspect of my personality. I love the process as much as I love the subjects. I've finally realized in intellectual terms "what photography is to me". My enjoyment of photography is two-fold. Firstly, I love the social interaction with people, be they strangers at events, friends having a beer, or a model who I'm teaching to "emote" for the camera. Secondly, I enjoy the hardware, the process of developing film, the researching and testing of different types of equipment to achieve a specific effect and bringing all those elements together successfully to create an image that shows people my soul in reverse; if the eyes are the window to the soul, then my photographs are a projection from the other side.
