I am a photographer living near Hecla Island, a rural area of the northern Manitoba Interlake (Canada). Since it is a vacation destination for many the opportunities abound for interesting photographs - I don’t have to go far from home to find something to photograph.

I have been photographing life around me since I was nine. I was fascinated by my parents twin lens reflex, but they didn’t want me to play with it so they bought me a plastic point-and-shoot. I’ve been documenting my surroundings since then. My father was a shutter bug and I learnt to use an SLR by borrowing his when I was about 15. I guess he thought I was doing well with it because he bought me my own SLR for Christmas when I was 16 - a Mamiya Sekor DTL1000. I still have it and it still works really well. But I’ve used a lot of other cameras since too. I currently am into using Fujifilm and Nikon mirrorless.

I graduated in professional photography from New York Institute of Photography. I’ve also studied fine art at University of South Carolina and graphic design at Red River College. I used to work in graphic design when I lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but I am retired now, so I spend my time on photography. I regularly document historic buildings with photography for the Manitoba Historical Society, and in the Manitoba Interlake for the Icelandic River Heritage Sites, Inc. I do event photography for IRHS as well. I enjoy documenting the life and landscapes around me.
