I've been a graphic designer for about 15 years. All this time, I have questioned what I do for a living. Not respecting it as art, thinking I suck, thinking I should be doing something else. When I was 19 my then boss (who was a photographer) called graphic designers "cut-y past-y people" - and I took it to heart. It was only using what other people created, not creating your own art. Now I am 35, and finally, FINALLY, I have realized that I am supposed to be a designer. It is art, because I say it is. While I deeply respect and value any critique I can get about my work, I'm gonna do what I like. That's all.
