Since a kid i have been interested in photography. Before my age was into double digits,i can remember playing with old 35mm cameras with my Dad,who was also a keen amateur photographer, musicain, artist and others things !! So he tought me basics with an Slr,back in the late 70's early 80's.Sadly he passed away soon after !
My first camera was i think was a Canon power shot.A 35mm automatic camera, meaning you didn't have to wind the film on after each shot,or mess about with settings.I pretty much had this camera, and my dad's old 35mm up until the early 90's.
During the 90's i got heavilly into the rave & party scene,so didn't really take too many photos for almost a decade....but circa 2000...i found a desire to photograph again.
I was in need of a new camera by 2002,as the digital revolution was here.
Back in the mid 90's,i did get hold of one of the first ever digital camera's.A Cassio QV-10.The 10 bit was that the memory could hold 10....yes TEN IMAGES ...I didn't really see it catching on after having it for a week, and buying it dirt cheap(hooky) ...sold it for nearly 3 times as much a week later.
Back to 2002,and i bought a Konica Minolta Dimage G300. 3.1 Mpix. This camera was a blinder back in those days. The thought of learning all the SLR stuff again seemed daunting,as these new compact camera's seemed to do it all for you.I managed to keep this cam for about 3 years, until one night i got smashed with the lads on a heavy session, and left it on a pub bench.....DOH !!!
So onto the replacement cam....Well tech had moved on fast by circa 2005/6...so after much research i spent just over 300 sobs on a Panasonic Lumix Mk3 - with wide angle.Again i held onto this for a while, but alas hard times set in,and i had to sell it.
This left me without a camera for a while, but phone tech was now also on the up,so all photography was done on a Nokia 5mp camera phone lol's....up till about 2009/2010,when i purchashed a Fuji FinePix 12Mpix point n click.Again i was happy with this simple camera i only paid about £70 for.....until.......
New Years Eve/Day 2010/2011....
That night having an extensive chat with my buddy Jon,I decided to try out the " Urban Exploring " world properly.I had known & been interested in exploring for MANY years,as it looked like a name had been given to something I had been doing since a kid.
I spent a couple of 3 months running around with that 'lil compact camera, quite happy to be fair.....That's until i did my first major roof top.The camera was fine until the light went up there, and i realised i would have to up my game....and move into the DSLR game, with tripods. Also this meant having to re learn the basics as a kid,and SO much more.
Late June 2011,i got my firsr Dslr.A Canon 350d.A good learning platform, which i think i learnt quickly on.I was soon craving an upgrade, but cash was tight.....then a breakthrough.
Late 2012 i upgraded to my current cam,a Canon 600d,which i'm more than happy with,as i know the next upgrade will have to take a small lottery win to fund !!!
*** Just after the latest camera upgrade,i decided to leave the exploring community,as i didn't fit into the behavioural habbits of these types,or at least agree with it.As this happened to roughly coincide with the camera upgrade,ANY exploring pitures i post under my name will be of " The early days. "
I still explore stuff, but will no longer post pics under this name.
