I have long had a keen interest in the natural landscape and a fascination with the complex processes that create, destroy and reshape it which led me to study geography at university.

Soon after graduating in 2005 advances in technology meant that almost everyone, myself included, was carrying a fairly competant camera at all times as cameraphones first took the world by storm. It's hard to imagine now the world before everyone had a camera in their pocket and "cameraphones" are now of course just "phones". At the time though it was a revelation. I found myself more and more often taking photographs for the sheer fun of creating the images and walking in the countryside & at the coast with the specific intent of taking photos.

It wasn't long before I bought my first digital SLR camera and tripod and took up landscape photography as a hobby in earnest. Living in Bridgend at that time the local Glamorgan Heritage Coast was an obvious first muse and I spent many hours there building a portfolio of images.

Over the years my approach has shifted away from representational vistas towards the more abstract, although I do still occasionally lug my tripod along for a walk and take a more traditional approach.

Now living in Monmouthshire I primarily practice three distinct photographic techniques; intentional camera movement to create abstracted views of the natural world, multiple exposures to create densely layered collages and using long lenses to isolate details of the interplay of light and water on a rivers surface.
