Mainly interested in nature. I was a keen birder for 20 years, and now settled to a quieter existence. I still travel to see extremely rare birds, first for Britain etc.

Increasingly, I am interested in dragonflies and butterflies, which gets me out on the nicer days.

I am the "British Dragonfly Society" county dragonfly recorder for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, an area of 5000 km squares.

 

Born long ago, in Mansfield, England and still live there. Have one son, himself a regular on this site. His Flickr ID is jonbradbury.

I use a Manfrotto 679B monopod or Slik D2 tripod for image stabilising

For macro work, I use a Canon Speedlight 580EX flash.

A flash sync cord allows off-camera 'strobist' flash

 

A Canon EOS 5 and a Canon EOS 3000 film cameras are now sitting by my desk and willing to work.

A Minolta X-9 has now joined them on the display shelf

 

I have also used phone-scoping to reasonable effect when faced with rare birds and no other camera to hand
