I'm a retired academic. I have lived and worked in Britain (Wales, and the North and South of England), and in France, where I now live. I am returning to photography after a long break: my previous experience (a long time ago) was with black and white film.

Most of the pictures here are taken with a Canon EOS 200D or a Canon EOS R6 Mk 2. Some of the older photos were taken with a variety of 'point-and-shoot' film or digital cameras; some of the newer ones were taken using a smartphone. My interests are landscapes, panoramas, black and white and low-light photography (or any combination of the above). I am also interested in what can be done in terms of the processing and recovery of images from old negatives.

For those who are interested in these things, I usually use RawTherapee and GIMP to process RAW images, although sometimes I will also use one of the products from Topaz labs, particularly if I want to do something a little different. If I look at somebody's profile and I like their work, I will usually follow them. If somebody 'faves' one of my images I will try to reciprocate.

I would welcome constructive comments and observations about my work, but I am realistic enough to know that not everybody has the time or patience to do this. Finally, I'm not interested in simply collecting faves from groups that are designed purely for that purpose and will reject any invitations to join such groups.
