I am a retired architect. I enjoy the challenge of amateur rail photography, but I have not pursued it consistently over the years. In late 1970 I bought my first SLR, a Minolta SR-T101. I used this camera until 1984* when I bought a Nikon FM2. I used the Nikon until 2001 when I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon CoolPix 995. In 2012 I bought a Nikon D5100 followed by a Nikon D7000 - the latter was my primary camera until I bought a Nikon D610 in early 2014. I traded the D610 in on a Nikon D750 in December 2014. In early 2015 I bought a Nikon D810, so photos I post in 2015 may by made by either this camera or the D750. With the film cameras I used color slide film almost exclusively, first Ektachrome and then Kodachrome. I have digitized my rail slides using a Nikon scanner. Most all of the scanned slides I further edited with Adobe Photoshop Elements. I also record rail videos, but have not decided if I will post these on the Internet. I try to shoot the videos at high shutter speeds in the 1/1000th range so I can make video stills from them. My photos posted on Flickr that are video stills are identified with a "VS."
*Please note that all my photos for years 1971 through 1983 were taken with the Minolta SR-T101 despite the information on Flickr that says the camera was a Nikon. My guess this is happening because I used a Nikon scanner to digitize the slides made with the SR-T101.
NOTE 07/24/2022: I have not posted anything on this channel since early 2016. I intend to keep the channel up and running, but I don't have any current plans to post more here despite the fact I have hundreds more photos waiting in "storage." I started a new Flickr channel in the fall of 2018. It deals mostly with general photography, but I do post some rail related work there. Search under my full name. The channel name is "cfc-photography".
