In 2004 I purchased my first digital camera, a small Nikon Point and Shoot. What amazed me was the freedom of being able to take hundreds of photographs at no cost!
In 2010, I upgraded to a canon super zoom camera. I think it may have been the PowerShot SX40. This camera sported aperture priority, shutter speed priority and manual modes. Suddenly a whole opened up to me, control! Over the next year, I experimented with these settings and slowly as my photographs improved, my frustration levels began to rise. While these superzoom camera's represented major strides in technological development, soft focus photographs are a constant problem.
In 2011 I purchased a second hand Canon G11. Over the next 6 months I attempted to master this camera. And boy did I love it! I experimented in every thing from HDR to using cp filters.
The next step was a second hand Nikon D5100. Again a whole new world opened up to me.
At present I use a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon D750. I still have a small compact camera, a Sony RX100 M3. The technology of these camera's awes me.
While I have a number of lenses, my favorite is the Nikkor 105mm macro lens. But I love landscape photography and as a result I find myself using wider lenses more often these days.
At the end of the day, I love the idea that you can capture a single moment in time!
