Photography:
"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught … is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." – Aaron Siskind
The little things:
I have always been interested in grass – well not so much grass specifically but what goes on in grass.
If you saw someone staggering along carrying a fully-grown tree you would notice, right?
Add to that the drama of skyscraper-sized giants racing around unable to see the person carrying the tree and plane-sized winged predators and you’ve got Hollywood-style entertainment.
When you think of it that way, an ant carrying a twig through the grass is pretty f’ing amazing.
While being a sightless skyscraper is a powerful thing (I have no doubt trodden on my fair share of super-ants!) to never see the incredible micro worlds beneath our feet, or beside us in a bush, or above us in a tree is to miss out.
I spend hours watching and photographing things that people walk by without seeing.
I have had people stop and ask me “what are you photographing – there’s nothing there…” as if to check I’m not seeing things. But I am seeing things and these are the things I want to share with you …
