Author, editor, lover of creation, reader . . . and one who has discovered how much more one can see when looking through the focused lens. Come see with me the beauties God has left obvious and the ones He has hidden a bit. From the detailed stripes on the antennae of a tiny butterfly to the wing feathers of a great blue heron and the bark of a giant sycamore--the beauty is everywhere for those with eyes to see.

I'm not a professional photographer, but a person with an eye for beauty and for surprise. Living near a creek, forested walking trails, and plenty of wildflowers gives me many opportunities to explore. Living within three quarters of an hour's drive of several state parks, state forests, and lakes gives me plenty more. Generally I take photos of whatever catches my eye, keeping out man-made objects if reasonably possible. I wish to document the beauty and the cycles of life around me.

Though I photograph some landscapes, my focus is largely on animals, with wildflowers and trees here and there. In recent years a lot of insects have found their way into my shots--more than I would have ever imagined ten years ago. All photos of animals are taken in the wild unless noted otherwise. Most were photographed in Indiana. I don't do a lot of post-processing, though I try to take shots that don't have sticks between the camera and the creature and such distractions, and if necessary I crop photos, adjust color a bit, and occasionally remove a distracting stick or two or other such blemishes from the background. But the creatures are seen in their actual context, imperfections and all, the way you'd have seen them if you were standing next to me--but a moment frozen in time, since most of these creatures don't stay in the same spot more than a second or two!
