The California desert is a stark place - some people love it, others hate it. I doubt that I will ever love it, but I try to find some small areas of beauty as I wander.

The sunsets and sunrises here can be magnificent, and delicate wildflowers bloom in the spring when conditions are right. We have very clear skies and intense sunshine, regularly-scheduled blazing hot summers, and wind... constant wind... that makes outdoor photography a real challenge.

Since joining Flickr, I've seen some breathtaking, magnificent photography. Viewing the photos I find here is a wonderful way to forget the unattractive scenery around me and satisfy my thirst for beauty. The fine photographers on this site inspire me daily, and I've learned to look at my world in new ways.

A few of these photos are 35mm scans; most are digital. No fancy cameras here - just a Canon A60 and a Kodak CX 7530.
