When it comes to black and white photographs, Ms. Vargas is a veritable genius. She has an uncanny talent for capturing “light leaks,” and turning them into poetry. In fact, she transforms them into her own signature art form. If it can be said that photographers weave stories without words, then that is what Ms. Vargas does. And she does it with a keen aplomb. Her composition and sense of timing are impeccable. And if she ever decided to do color photography, she’d be equally successful (check out some of her color shots. They’re proof). She is fearless and ambitious in tackling projects like filming the Presidio in Black and White. In a word, Ms. Vargas is inspiring.
