I'm a 23-year-old student currently for an MA in Health Care Ethics and Law at the University of Manchester, after having recently graduated with a BSc in Biology from the same place. Lancaster has been my home since 1990, although I was born in Eastbourne, on the south coast.

I took my first photos that had any kind of merit when I was around 7 or 8 on a Boots disposable camera, and shortly afterwards I was informed that I had "an eye for a good photo". Apparently. I hope to root out, scan and upload my early photos sometime soon, though the prints may have deteriorated somewhat. Since then I have progressed through several cameras (chunky blue Boots kids' camera, Yashica Microtec AF-Super, Olympus Superzoom 160, Fuji FinePix F455, Fuji FinePix F10) to reach the Panasonic FZ8 I use now. Obviously I hope to be able to afford to build a DSLR system in the near future, but having used basic cameras for such a long time has taught me a great deal about what can be done with simpler equipment and a keenly trained eye. I also have a Minolta Dynax 404si film SLR camera on long-term loan, which I am saving for dedicated photo trips when I have time.

I have fairly recently rekindled my interest in photography as a hobby, mainly owing to obtaining my first digital camera in 2005 and being much more able to shoot freely and be creative, rather than worrying about the expense of film and processing.

I have always enjoyed both the British countryside (I am a keen mountain biker and walker) and travel (both domestic and abroad), so this reflects in my photos. I also have been mad about motorsport since I was 6 years old, so expect to find plenty of motorsport-related images in my collection also!
