I got into photography in college (RHIoT) when my friend was shooting with an old Argus C3 in the early 70's Learned a lot about photography using a non-automatic camera. I purchased an Olympus OM-1 shortly after it was released. (it is still in the house somewhere). We shot much of the college yearbook for a couple of years and were part of the newspaper staff.. Spent many a late night in the darkroom. Setting up a darkroom in an apartment was problematic so I sold all that stuff and fell away from serious photography for a couple of decades. I returned to photography at the dawn of the digital age with non-DSLR cameras. I finally purchased a Canon T3i so I could better follow the high school band that my daughter was a part of. Eventually got into event photography at conventions, at church and wherever people gathered, almost a return to the college yearbook and newspaper days. Moved to the micro 4/3 world with Olympus cameras to save my back..(and another throwback to college days). I enjoy documenting events to preserve memories for me and others (Chained in time)
