I'm a student at the University of Washington, majoring in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Development Studies.
I loved film photography (I used an old Minolta Maxxum 7000 SLR) during high school but when I graduated and didn't have access to a darkroom for free any more it became increasingly clear that film was just too costly and too difficult to post-process to my liking. I spent over $100 - a lot for a student! - on film and developing (no prints!) for the film I used in Bolivia last year on an Engineers Without Borders implementation. Given that, and the comparatively low cost of DSLRs, I picked up a Nikon D40.
I absolutely love the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 I picked up, and use it for most of my work while traveling. I also use the 55-200mm f/4-5.6 VR when I know I'll be doing a lot of portraits or nature photography.
Due to a lack of time, I do only minimal (if any) post-processing on the vast majority of my photos. The main exception are the photos from Bolivia, which required significant tweaks.
Hope you enjoy my work!
