A Coordenação-Geral de Ações Internacionais de Combate à Fome (CGFOME) trata da segurança alimentar e nutricional, tanto em sua vertente emergencial quanto estrutural, das ações de prestação de cooperação humanitária internacional do Governo Brasileiro, bem como dos temas de redução do risco de desastres, diálogo com a sociedade civil, Fórum Social Mundial, desenvolvimento agrário, pesca artesanal e Instituto Social Brasil-Argentina. A Coordenação realiza interlocução sobre esses temas com a Organização das Nações Unidas para a Alimentação e a Agricultura (FAO), o Fundo Internacional para o Desenvolvimento Agrícola (FIDA) e o Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA). Em 2012, o Brasil fez a maior doação repassada ao PMA de sua história, terminando o ano como o 10º maior doador, com mais de US$ 82 milhões.

The General Coordination of International Actions to Combat Hunger (CGFOME) tackles food and nutrition security, both in the axis of emergency actions and in structural actions for the provision of international humanitarian cooperation of the Brazilian Government, as well as the themes of risk disaster reduction, dialogue with civil society, the World Social Forum, agricultural development, fisheries and Social Institute Brazil-Argentina. The Coordination conducts dialogue on these issues with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP). In 2012, Brazil made the largest donation to WFP in its history, finishing the year as the 10th largest donor, with over $ 82 million.
