Das Kompetenzzentrum „Center for Learning Technology“ (CeLTech) im Deutschen Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz widmet sich der Unterstützung von Bildungs- und Qualifizierungsprozessen (vor-)schulischer, akademischer sowie beruflicher Aus- und Weiterbildung durch innovative Softwaretechnologien an der Schnittstelle von Bildungs-, Organisations- und Technologieentwicklung.

Traditionelle Formen des formalen und informellem Lehrens, Lernens und Prüfens stoßen in der komplexen, wissensbasierten, globalen Gesellschaft von heute mit ihren vielfältigen Bildungsräumen und Möglichkeiten des technologie-unterstützten Informations- und Wissensmanagements an ihre Grenzen. Möglichkeiten der innovativen Gestaltung von Bildungs- und Qualifizierungsprozessen hin zu einem aktiven, selbst-gesteuerten und sozialen Prozess, gekoppelt mit der stetig wachsenden Leistungsfähigkeit ubiquitär nutzbarer Hard- und Software und der Vernetzung im Internet der Dinge, Dienste und Daten haben zu einer höchst innovativen Bildungslandschaft weltweit geführt. Das internationale Team von renommierten Wissenschaftlern und erfahrenen Software- und Systementwicklern am Center for Learning Technology gestaltet diese neue Bildungslandschaft aktiv mit, durch Beratung, Forschung, und durch die Entwicklung von Prototypen.

Dabei liegt der Schwerpunkt der anwendungsorientierten Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten sowie Beratungsleistungen auf Technologien, die es ermöglichen sich auf den individuell Lernenden, sein Lernziel, seine Umgebung intelligent-adaptiv einzustellen und passende Lerngelegenheiten anzubieten, insbesondere in den Bereichen

• Intelligente mobile Assistenzsysteme, die kontext-sensitiv just-in-time Informationen bereitstellen;

• Web-basierte Lernsysteme, die an den Lernenden angepasste Lerninhalte zusammenstellen;

• immersive Lernumgebungen, in denen Lernende auf natürliche Weise in multimodalen Bildungsräumen interagieren;

• Semantische Wissensplatformen, die eine Zusammenarbeit und den Austausch von Wissen vereinfachen;

•Self-Assessments, die psychologisch fundierte Interessens- und Eignungstests durchführen;

•Game-based Learning, zur spielerischen Aneignung von Informationen und Wissen.

Die Arbeiten des CeLTech finden Anwendung bei der Aus- und Weiterbildung in Kitas, Schulen, Hochschulen und Unternehmen, in Gebieten wie Industrie 4.0, Medizin, Mathematik und Spitzensport. Die Beratung von Entscheidungsträgern in Schulen, Hochschulen und Universitäten, Geschäftsführungen und Unternehmensvorständen bis hin zu Ministerien auf Landes- und Bundesebene gehört ebenso in das Leistungsportfolio des deutschlandweit einzigartigen Kompetenzzentrums.

The Competence Centre CeLTech (Center for Learning Technology) at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) is dedicated to the support of education and qualification processes of (pre-) school, academic and vocational education and training through innovative software technologies at the interface of educational, organizational and technological development.

Traditional forms of formal and informal learning, teaching and testing encounter their limits in the complex, knowledge-based, global society of today with its diverse educational spaces and possibilities of technology-supported information and knowledge management. The potential of innovative design of training and qualification processes, of active, self-directed and social learning processes, coupled with the ever-growing performance of ubiquitously usable hardware and software and the interconnectedness of the Internet of Things, Services, and Data have led to highly innovative educational landscapes. The international team of renowned scientists and experienced software and system developers at the Center for Learning Technology are actively designing this new educational landscape, through consulting, research, and the development of prototypes.

The focus of the application-oriented research, development and consulting lies on technologies that intelligently adapt and adjust learning environments and learning materials to the individual students and their learning objective, particularly in the areas of

• intelligent mobile assistance services that offer context-sensitive just-in-time information;

• web-based learning environments that assemble learning material adapted to the individual learner;

• immersive, multi-modal learning environments in which the learner interacts seamlessly;

• semantic knowledge platforms that simplify collaboration and sharing of knowledge;

• self-assessment systems that perform psychologically founded interests and capability tests;

• game-based learning, for the playful acquisition of information and knowledge.

The work of CeLTech find application in education and training in day care centers, schools, universities and businesses in areas such as smart manufacturing, medicine, mathematics, and professional sports. The consulting services provided to decision-makers in schools, colleges and universities, managers and corporate boards as well as ministries at the state and federal level is also part of the service portfolio of CeLTech.
