As an Author and a printer, I've been dipping my hands in inks, and breathing chemical fluids since 1998 when i started screen-printing. Since, I've held on to the same kind of products, and discovered etching in Mexico City. I used old plastic plates made for paper prints.
Fully addicted to the visual pollution that surrounds Mexico City, it inspired me and I'm recycling, reusing it in screen printing, etching, collages, stencils.
I took part in plenty of collectives exhibitions in Europe and Mexico ( Mexico City Museum ; The Casa Laam ; U.N.A.M ; The Black Cat Bone in Puebla ; Hot Art Fair Salon in Basel Switzerland ; La Maison Des Folies of Wazemmes, Lille, France ; International Museum of the Modest Art in Sétes, France ; Musée de L'objet, Blois ; Galery So Much Art, Brussell, Belgium entitled "Kitch-Catch" , "Cuadrilatero" , "Primavera de Lucha" , "Lucha Grafica". My Work can be found next to artist's pieces like Daniel Johston, Charles Burns, dr. Lakra, Tanx, Lourdes Grobet, Ismael Olivares, Demian Flores,Cristian Pineda Flores,Robert Combas, Hervé Di Rosa, Charles Glaublitz, Humberto Valdez, Andres Mendoza, Tom de Pékin, Costes, Ludovic Debeurme, Bongout, la Chienne, Caroline Sury, dr. Alderete, Jasper Wong...
The DIY logic of my work is the base for " Catchascatchcan", originally a micro-editing project of Books and screen-printed posters, then turned into a multi-disciplinary project involving Art Videos, animated movies, installations tributing Wrestling, a show but still a sport, a reflection of our media-driven society.
It's a personal as well as collaborative project.
I organized the "Wrestling Baby Blast" Festival with Laurent Claude aka Lauch, Guitar player in Exxon Valdez and manager of Garage Rock Shows. We built up this event mixing non-professional Lucha Libre, Graficà & Rock'N'Roll. Due to an accident on the ring, I gave up on the first world for the mexican third rope, where i've been traveling for the past 4 years from Mexico City historical quarter, to the suburbs and the province. I experienced mainly graphics productions at the "Tinta Néo" Workshop of Andres Mendoza, but also at the faro of Oriente or Juchitan, Oaxaca, and the sweat of the C.M.LL.'s Arena in Mexico where I'm collaborating with other artits. I become more and more dependent on this country and its culture. About 15 books, pages and pages screen-printed, dozens of posters and more than a hundred etchings made, I'm far from starting to quit and keep on fighting on a daily basis with papers, inks, and other visuals and human chemistries.
Catchascatchcan is the name of my project as well as my artist name making me a part of the Triple A list: Anonymous Autonomous Artist. I hope to share with you this healthy graphic addiction.
--------------------------
For 10 years, I've been working on the relationship between ink and paper. Trough my leading project "Catchascatchcan", I introduced a serie of objects and many volumes numbered around this main subject: The Wrestling. "Catchascatchcan" close from the expression "catch me if you can" is also the origin of this sport name in French.
Wrestling, or Catch in French is a Fight involving all the figures, mostly a popular sport Show, prepared, simulated by highly dramatized staging, exaggerate vision of the World, reflection of the fight between justice and unfairness. This fanciful universe is actually real, It allows me to create an imaginary graphic battle.
There is a re-appropriation to create a world in which "Everything is Wrestling".
Leaded by the interaction between the Show, Art, politics, mass media, the subject itself become my medium, my way.
Wrestling has been my main subject since i started working at the Tinta néo workshop in Mexico in 2007. Today, I'm trying to set myself free from this idea by approaching new theme like Black magic, Voodoo, or the End of the World, trying diverse possibilities on Plexiglas tattoo gun, sand paper as well as chemical fluids that can attack the plastic.
My Micro-edition project as been sold in many bookshops and galleries in Paris, Marseilles, Strasbourg, Brussels, Lyon , Rennes, Berlin, Madrid, Púebla , México city,, Montréal.
