Judging by the route his work has taken -- the passion for color and HDR and the move to the subtler counterpoint of black and white -- I sometimes feel as if Cataract_eye is my Malaysian twin...or perhaps I am his American twin. I originally knew him as khairilfz and came to appreciate his HDR and architectural studies. In Cataract_eye, I have come to see the other side of this wonderful man and photographer...the subtle and refined eye that transforms vistas and objects into the light and tones of black, gray, and white. Unlike the blast of color and saturation with which HDR quickly catches the eye, black and white is like a fine wine, or an elegant piece of jazz or classical music. It is something one returns to again and again, learning anew each time. Cataract-eye knows this...for it suffuses his black and white work.
