I live in the city of Duluth, Minnesota. It's located at the farthest western edge of Lake Superior. It is a seaport with access to the Atlantic Ocean over 2,000 miles away. Nature here is always beautiful, but harsher and largely untamed. Winter is nearly six months long. With hills that begin on the lake's shore and rise steeply to more than six hundred feet in a few city blocks, some idle wintertime drives need to be navigated more carefully through ice and snow. All that being said, it's a marvelous place to take photographs. I am a recent resident of this part of the world. I am exploring and photographing, and rephotographing, amazing vistas and details. It's helped me learn to shoot better by demanding that I think clearer before committing to pushing the shutter button.
