I do not call myself a "Professional" photographer, as there is no Federal or State Licensing requirement for photographers and no recurrent training and testing requirement. Further, by definition, "photographer" is not a "profession". It is a word used by snobs.

I am a photographer who earns money from my photography. I have been taking photographs, since 1967, and still learning, striving to improve, and exploring the art and science of photography. I was first published (and paid) by a magazine, in 1992. I have been internationally published and paid, for my photography, since then. Sometimes, payment was dinner or the satisfaction to see someone smile, when I gave them a photo or photo credit in a magazine.

By the way, I do not participate in any social media, such as facebook, twitter, instagram and nor do I cross-link my website to my Flickr portfolio, merely to boost numbers or my Flickr presence. Some folks live to have millions of Views and thousands of Favs, easy enough to achieve if you use a bot program to repeatedly hit on your link or use social media. I could give a shit less, in fact. They live to be "Explored" based upon some funky flickr algorithm. I merely stand on the strength of my images and do not seek anyone's approval. I do not do one-for-one Favs or comments. You like, are inspired by, and can learn some technique from my photography, great. Am I continually published and paid for my work? Yes. The only numbers that matter to me are preceded by $.
