I am a journalist, writer and historian. My most recent book is El Norte: The Epic and Forgotten Story of Hispanic North American (Grove Atlantic 2019). Before that, I published Empire's Crossroads in 2014 (Pan Macmillan in the UK and Grove/Atlantic in the US), a history of the Caribbean.
