In many ways, contemporary life conspires to make all of us non-observing participants in everyday life who are oblivious to the forces that shape us, even when we have the best intentions to avoid the disempowering influences.
Photography and sociology offer us tools to help us see our world in ways that can be energizing and empowering.
My interest is in the dynamic and empowering inquiry into the intersecting connections of the social world. To this end, photographic images are powerful tools. On this site, I invite you to view images and reflections that I have gathered on my journey. This journey involved three decades as a sociology professor and ten years of applying visual-sociological methods.
