Update on my Bio...I am Susan. I am learning to write my own story :) I moved to the Outer Banks in N.C, to try and establish myself as an artist and photographer... (A childhood dream of mine) after losing my job of 22+ years. To start I planned to work toward that goal over the first winter, expecting it to take time. To my amazement, in under 3 months I got a 3 month showing of my photos, which turned into 6 months at which time my art was included... I then got a magazine cover... Which led to photo sales and a store taking my work.... And quickly following I ended up with my work in 3 other shops and a gallery. i finally believe in myself and it feels good to prove the naysayers wrong!

I have learned much about myself being here on my own.... I am stronger than I ever imagined, I am proud of the growth and progress I have made and that I chose to not give up on my dream. I am an introvert, preferring to be home with my cats, working on my art or walking with my camera. I take "peopling" in small doses and need ample recovery time if I have been socializing with many people at one time... Like those "meet and greet " things I have to do!!! Soooo not my thing :(

I am currently caregiver to my 93 year old mom who moved in with me after a fall about 5 years ago. My family all lives too far so this is on me and I am doing the best I can, but recently had to hire a helper for when I need to be out of the house for hours delivering art or photographing for my cards and prints to add to the shops. This explains my absence from Flickr ...but honestly I miss it and so much has changed for me since I joined so I am really going to try and allow myself the much needed respite time to re-engage.

UPDATE: Mom passed away in January of 2023…she had dementia during her last year with me and is finally at peace. I am so glad I kept her here at home and was able to care for her. Not any easy thing, but the best thing for her. She loved my cats and her great grandchildren…and even tho she did not know me anymore, as her daughter, I know she loved the person I was as I cared for her.

i tend to be a bit of a wonky-nut .......harmless, but in the pursuit of adventure and laughter...and i do mean tear inducing fits of the latter, and wild, sometimes slightly law breaking adventures!! (faint hearted need not apply!)

i check and TRY to respond in a timely fashion to comments...depending on how crazy my schedule gets and what other life gets in the way. Please know I sincerely appreciate, every "so much as glance" or any words you choose to write about my photos. Thank you for taking the time.

i thoroughly enjoy the banter with my flickr contacts and friends, so many of whom i have gotten to meet and shoot with....i do also try to look at the streams of everyone that comments on my pictures and to fave and/or comment on the pictures there. IF YOU FAVE MY PICTURES OR ADD TO YOUR “GALLERY” AND YOU HAVE NO PICTURES FOR ME TO VIEW AND NO PROFILE, YOU WILL BE BLOCKED... it makes me feel like you are up to no good. OH, and please do not bother me with porn...i mean REALLY...not interested.

More than 15 years have gone by since i opted into the adventure land called Flickr. i am never less than astounded at the beauty i find here....both in the photos and the wonderful friends i have made. My contacts and friends are the best, and i love each and every one of them for their gift of friendship and their caring ways.

A VERY special thanks to those who have gotten to know me quite well since i took the plunge into the flickr pool, have allowed me to visit them, embraced me as a friend and love me just the way i am!! ;-D You are the reason that i am finally growing confidence in myself and what i do....for this i can never thank you enough....words just can't express what i feel in my heart for all of you....

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

oh! one more thing...my photos ARE copyrighted and belong to ME. i am pretty good at sharing and will most of the time, if i am asked nicely! if you take what doesn’t belong to you without asking, well...hell hath no fury like a ME scorned! You don't want to go there ;-)

I am one of the lucky people that knows Susan in person as well as on Flickr. I have known her for a long time and can attest to the fact that she is one of the most talented and creative people that I have ever met, with a great sense of humor and warm personality to complete the whole package. As far as talent goes... believe me her photos are just the tip of the iceberg. She is a true artist in any media that she attempts. Our paths have crossed many times in the past years and I am so happy that they have recently crossed again renewing our friendship because we share so many of the same interests... a love of crafts, primtive stuff, antiques, history, decrepitude, soccer, all things summer and beachy... and now photography. I can thank her for bringing me to Flickr... I had visited before but was too intimidated by all the GREAT photos to post any of my own, and following Susan's photostream has inspired me to join Flickr myself, which is inspiring me to try to take more pictures and better pictures each day. I am loving the Flickr community! Thanks Susan!! When is our next adventure?!

Her positivity is infectious, to the point that every time I log on, I look for her latest posting and the comments she occasionally makes on my postings - they are non judgmental and like gold. She is a special person who has a great photographic talent as well!

Susan was one of my earliest contacts on Flickr. (I was going to say she was one of my oldest contacts on Flickr but I think she might take exception to that characterization!) Susan was one of my earliest contacts on Flickr. (I was going to say she was one of my oldest contacts on Flickr but I think she might take exception to that characterization!) I can't remember how I stumbled upon her photostream almost two years ago, but I'm certainly glad I did. I have always enjoyed her macro work, her wonderful "Monday faces," her travel shots and her images of life at Ogden Manor. Her genuine love of spiders is infectious, and she's never seen a snake she didn't want to cuddle! :) She has a boundless enthusiasm for life in general and photography in particular, and I always enjoy her funny and witty captions. I truly look forward to seeing her "iconic" smile in my comments - she never fails to brighten my day. Susan personifies good cheer, even after a day at "the pen," and I'm honored to count her as a Flickr friend. Okay, Susan, now will you go out and buy a decent tripod??? :)

I am delighted that a mutual contact sent Thruthelookingglass to my stream... we've been having a blast ever since she arrived! Susan's work is gorgeous, outrageous, sensitive, funny and oh so clever! She is capable of photographing everything and anything and she does! You never know what you will find on her stream- anything from a gorgeous flower to a pig's snoot!!! All shot well, processed beautifully and composed to perfection. And every Monday morning we are all treated to a shot of an outrageous "Monday Face" that keeps us laughing all week long! I especially love the fact that when I look at a pic and am busy trying to decide whether it would be okay to make the outrageous comment I really want to make but don't have the courage, Susan is busy posting the same comment without hesitation! I would love to be more like that! Susan is funny, kind and talented and I'm delighted to have her as a Flickr Friend!
