One day while browsing Flickr’s plethora of imagery, I happened upon some beautiful fall scenery. The reflections on water of changing foliage; the reds, yellows, golden hues, well… I was captivated. This was my introduction to the artistry of Nica. After viewing her photo stream, I became an instant Follower. Her use of light opened my eyes to just how beautiful and fun photography can be. I find her compositions compelling, no matter the subject matter and, the captions she writes for these images have meaning; they fit, and often show her wit. :))) I’m a novice and, like many, can be overly critical of my work. Through our friendship, she has lent much encouragement, and for this, I thank you very much, my dear Friend! Mark

Two words come to mind when I think of Nica’s photography: sensibility and wit. She has an incredible ability to capture the beauty of vegetal and animal kingdoms with her camera. Take a look at her landscapes and you will be moved in a vivid and transcendent world of subtle details and stunning atmosphere. Her photographs are not frozen in time. The air vibrates, the leaves on the trees rustle under a gentle wind, the sun doesn’t simply set, it sets fire to the sky… You don’t look at a picture, you look through her eyes. Beyond technical skills, such a performance requires a lot of sensibility… and wit. Nica’s photographic eye is indeed outstandingly witty. Her titles and captions can alternatively be inspiring, poetic and hilarious. She captures the world that surrounds her with intelligence, tenderness, sense of humour and self-mockery. Sensibilty and wit… Two marks of a true photographer. And, as if that were not enough, she is also a long-standing true friend. I’m amazed by her capacity to provide a thoughtful support to so many people on Flickr. Her comments are always kind, encouraging and regularly funny. For all those reasons, and many other ones that my weaknesses in English prevent me of expressing, I definitely feel it is a great privilege of knowing her and I can only encourage you to follow her photostream. PS: Shame on me! I almost forgot to mention the true star of Nica’s photostream : Sir Toby. One of the most beautiful cats on Flickr -and probably of the Creation… with mine of course ;) You can always count on Sir Toby to put a smile on your face and make your day. Considering this fantastic cat, you definitely have no excuse for not following Nica on Flickr!

I suppose I could keep this short and sweet by simply stating I have a personal "Top Five Flickr Photos" and two of the five are Nica's. But, I like to talk so just allow me to say that Nica is one of the best photographers on Flickr. Period. Her outdoor photos are superb, regardless the season, and I know of no one who captures the beauty of Nature -- and its atmosphere -- as well as she. I also enjoy her magnificent animal portraits -- which are gorgeous, regardless of whether they are captured indoors or out....but, before I get too wordy, let me simply sum up by stating her entire photostream is a joy to view. I love her work.
