Hi, I’m Caprina Valentine. I’m a graphic designer, photographer and website developer. I also love to cook, hike, paint + play drums (yes, a full kit). I photograph everything from urban to nature, in a style that is attentive to detail and line, rich in texture and often scoped by a narrow depth of field.

I got my first camera when I was 12. It was a Pentax 35mm automatic and I took it everywhere. When Mom saw what I was producing, she gifted me her vintage Pentax K1000 completely manual 35mm film camera, which she had carted around in her younger days. It was (and still is) in great working condition and how I learned most of my technique with the patience of working on film into my early 20s. In 2004 I made the switch to digital, now using a Canon Rebel XT. (I would still be very much interested in working with film and/or film collaborations.)

My predominant style is URBAN ABSTRACT, in which I am drawn to the aging and weathering of man-made signs, architectural and industrial details, which create a kind of "natural graffiti." Some may see it as signs of decay, but I also see the history and excitement of its birth and its beautiful, natural wabi-sabi tendency towards entropy.
